Rated as the finest example of its type in the country, the bell tower addition to the ancient priory church is dated from 1400AD.

The annual service of remembrance in November for the dead and wounded of two world wars is held at the parish war memorial.
Our parish is under the direct flightpath to Buckingham Palace for the RAF's annual tribute to Her Majesty on the Queen's official birthday. It provides us with our own flying display in close-up.
The Parish Council has placed planters in public areas to bring a touch of year round colour. Here at the junction of Hook End Road, Mill Lane and Hay Green Lane, in addition to the two planters, the Council has installed a bench seat and refurbished the traditional Essex fingerpost.
The British Motorcycle Owners' annual outdoor exhibition and meet is held at the village green in May. Hundreds of enthusiasts arrive in the Parish for a morning of activity, and then clean up the site leaving it in spotless condition.
Built by local craftsmen so the Parish would have a permanent monument in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, the beacon on the village green was lit for the first time as part of a co-ordinated nationwide celebratory event.
Honouring the role of Britain's Merchant Navy -- both past and present -- has become a Parish tradition, inspired by Atlantic Convoy veteran Ron Quested, a long-time resident of Blackmore. Mr Quested, shown here in uniform and accompanied by his daughter Debbie, is pictured at the annual raising of the Red Ensign at the Parish War Memorial.
